Fantasy Football: Tread Lightly with Beanie Wells

.
Once considered a can?t miss prospect, Beanie has had far too many his share of knee issues to make him a reliable fantasy option. He was downright nasty at times last year in posting his first 1000 yard season. Beanie?s total last year was a little less than his total over his first two years.
.
Beanie also had ten touchdowns, which was one more than his previous two seasons. He also missed two games.
.
Over the first two weeks he had 381 yards and six touchdowns. He also lit up the Rams to the tune of 228 yards and a score in Week 12. Clearly there were some high points to his 2011 season.
.
Unfortunately Beanie had yet another knee surgery this offseason. While it wasn?t a serious knee surgery, there is always cause for concern when a player goes under the knife.
.
Not only does Beanie have to deal with the knee issue, he also has the deal with Ryan Williams, assuming he can return from a knee injury of his own. Now Williams is coming off a serious knee injury, having torn ?his patella tendon last summer. Even if he does return, he?ll likely just be the change of pace back for Beanie.
.
The Cardinals did draft Michael Floyd to complement Larry Fitzgerald. If they get competent QB play they will likely continue to be near the bottom of the rushing attempts.
.
Beanie Wells did show some grit by playing, and playing well ,despite knee issues last year. Can he handle another 245 carry season? That?s hard to say. If you do roll with Beanie as one of your top two or three backs, make sure you have insurance.

ANALYSIS

Tony DeMarco

Memorial Day weekend means the season's rapidly rolling along ? the one-third mark rapidly is approaching. In other words, general managers have had enough time to know what they have on their rosters, and more importantly, what they still need in what surely will be wide-open playoff chases.

And, we've had enough time to make the following observations that have gone beyond the it's-still-early category:

AWARD LEADERS

AL MVP: When you're a couple of batting average points from having a Triple Crown winner, this one is obvious. Josh Hamilton is the best player on what clearly has been baseball's best team. Not to ignore the great starts for Paul Konerko and Adam Jones, though. Konerko actually led Hamilton in batting average and on-base percentage through Wednesday.

NL MVP: It was unanimously Matt Kemp in April. Then he slumped, went on the disabled list and the Dodgers won six in a row without him. So at this point, we'll go with David Wright, who through Wednesday had the remarkable slash line of .399/.497/.601 in leading the surprising Mets.

AL Cy Young: Nothing mysterious here ? Justin Verlander is first or second in the AL in innings, strikeouts, ERA, WHIP and wins. Much more surprising are the great first two months of Jake Peavy, Derek Lowe, Brandon Morrow and Chris Sale.

NL Cy Young: The statistical difference between favorite Clayton Kershaw and still-unknown Atlanta pitcher Brandon Beachy boils down to Kershaw's better strikeout-walk ratio (4-1 to 3-1). Which makes Beachy's story all the better: Undrafted free agent out of Indiana Wesleyan University, signed for $20,000, started his minor-league career in the bullpen, and four years later, a Cy Young-caliber starter.

AL Manager of the Year: It can only be Buck Showalter, as the Orioles were a near-unanimous spring choice for another last-place finish in the AL East. Nobody knows how long they can hang around, but there are enough positive signs throughout the organization for legitimate optimism. This also could be the year Manny Acta gets his due, while Joe Maddon remains the most interesting manager in the world.

NL Manager of the Year: Nobody was paying attention when the Dodgers turned the corner last August and went 34-20 down the stretch. But everybody is aware of Don Mattingly's team now, as it sat 30 games over .500 at 64-34 in its last 98 games through Wednesday.

It's who Mattingly is winning with that makes his case. Kemp, Mark Ellis, Juan Rivera, Juan Uribe, Jerry Hairston Jr. currently are on the disabled list, Dee Gordon was benched then dropped to eighth in the order, and James Loney's power struggles continue. Yet the wins keep mounting with lineups including Jerry Sands, Justin Sellers, Elian Herrara, Scott Van Slyke and Ivan DeJesus.

AL Rookie of the Year: He's no rookie, of course -- not when it took over $100 million to get him out of Japan. But Yu Darvish is eligible for the award and gets it at this point. But Mike Trout is making it interesting, isn't he?

NL Rookie of the Year: We know where this likely is leading as the season unfolds -- Bryce Harper. Especially when this isn't a particularly strong year for NL rookies. Wade Miley, Yonder Alonso, Zack Cozart and Kirk Nieuwenhuis are off to nice starts.

Best surprise team: Given what's written above in the NL Manager of Year category, the Dodgers shouldn't be a huge surprise. But they have built a solid lead in both the division and wild-card races, and new ownership will add at the trade deadline.

Also, the Nationals have risen to the top of the NL East behind great starting pitching ? and without Michael Morse (expected back in June), Drew Storen (expected back in July) and Brad Lidge (expected back in June).

Most disappointing team: Tie: Angels and Tigers. Albert Pujols has been far from alone, as Erick Aybar, Ervin Santana, Dan Haren and Peter Bourjos also have underachieved. Injuries/losses of Chris Iannetta, Torii Hunter, Vernon Wells have been costly. The bullpen had to undergo a reconstruction and appears to be settling. The infusion of Mike Trout and Mark Trumbo in the every-day lineup has lit some recent offensive sparks.

As it's turning out in Detroit, Miguel Cabrera playing third base has been less of an issue than Prince Fielder playing first base. The offense's problems lie with the supporting cast ? with the obvious exception of Austin Jackson. The bullpen could be bolstered by the trade deadline, but there is hope for the rotation with Doug Fister's return and the expectation that Max Scherzer and Rick Porcello will lower current 5-plus ERAs.

The two-month All-Stars
AL?
1B: Paul Konerko, 2B: Robinson Cano, SS: Derek Jeter, 3B: Adrian Beltre, OF: Josh Hamilton, Austin Jackson, Adam Jones, C: Joe Mauer, SP: Justin Verlander, Closer: Jim Johnson.

NL ? C: Carlos Ruiz, 1B: Brian LaHair, 2B: Omar Infante, SS: Rafael Furcal, 3B: David Wright, OF: Matt Kemp, Melky Cabrera, Ryan Braun; SP: Clayton Kershaw, Closer: Jonathan Papelbon.

Biggest disappointments: 1B: Albert Pujols; 2B: Rickie Weeks; SS: Erick Aybar; 3B: Pedro Alvarez; OF: Jeff Francouer, Logan Morrison, Peter Bourjos; C: Nick Hundley; SP: Tim Lincecum, Clay Buchholz, Francisco Liriano; RP: Carlos Marmol, Francisco Cordero.

By the numbers: How much better are the Rangers than the rest of the AL?: Through Wednesday, they led the majors with a +79 run differential. The next-highest AL team was Toronto at +35, and no other team was better than +17.

How much worse are the Twins than the rest of the AL? Through Wednesday, they sported a -69 run differential. Next worse in the AL were the Royals at -22.

Which surprise team is least likely to sustain its current winning percentage? Taking nothing away from the job Terry Collins has done in a very tough situation, the Mets had a 24-20 record despite a -29 run differential through Wednesday.

With the exact same run differential, the Brewers were 18-26. And the Rockies were 16-27 with a -27 run differential. How have the Mets gotten there? They're 9-5 in one-run games, but have lost by scores of 8-2, 14-6, 9-3, 6-1, 7-2, 18-9, 8-1, 8-0 and 14-5.

Real Estate Crash in China Underway: Foreign Funding Down 80 ...

From Mish?s Global Economic Trend Analysis

Inquiring minds are reading an excellent report China Real Estate Unravels by Patrick Chovanec, a professor at Tsinghua University?s School of Economics and Management in Beijing, China.

The report confirms many of the things I said would happen in regards to the Chinese real estate bubble and GDP.

Here are a few items of note.

Developers, burdened by 70% leverage ratios and loans threatening to come due, rushed to complete projects already in their pipeline, to put those units onto the market and raise cash.

That rush to complete inflated real estate investments, allegedly up 23.5% in the first quarter. Other statistics from the report tell the real story.

  • Year-on-year sales in Q1, for all real estate, was down 14.6%.
  • Residential property sales were down 17.5%
  • Office sales were down -10.2%?
  • Sales in January-February were a disaster, falling 20.9% overall,
compared to the first two months of 2011, -24.7% for residential.
  • Total amount of floor space ?for sale? was up 35.5%, compared to the
    same date last year
  • Floor space of residential units ?for
    sale? grew 47.4%.
  • At the end of 2011, total floor space ?under construction? was roughly 4.6 times the floor space sold
  • A year and a half worth of excess inventory is hidden somewhere in the pipeline
  • New starts in April fell 14.6% year-on-year and 27.0% month-on-month, for property as a whole
  • Housing starts fell -14.4% year-on-year and -23.4% month-on-month
  • Office starts fell -21.0% year-on-year in April, and -45.1% compared to
    March
  • Retail property starts fell -18.7% year-on-year, and -36.8%
    compared to March
  • Land sale revenues in April (RMB 27 billion) were down -54.7% compared to April last year
  • Foreign funding for property development was down -91.4% in March and -80.8% in April, compared to the same months last year.

Clearly a crash is underway. The above stats also show the soft-landing thesis is written on toilet paper.

GDP Analysis

I like the analysis by Chovanec on GDP implications and the highly-overrated ?soft landing? theory.

The ?resilient? growth in real estate investment that seemed to promise a ?soft landing? is not very resilient at all. It?s more like the last gasp of a market that?s running out of steam. Once the surge in completions plays out, the declining number of new starts will become the pipeline, and growth in property investment will flatten or go
negative.

Property investment accounts for roughly a quarter of gross Fixed Asset Investment (FAI), and net FAI accounts for over half of China?s GDP growth. As I noted in January, in a back-of-the-envelope thought exercise, if property investment plateaus (growth falls to zero), it could shave as much as 2.6
percentage points off of real GDP growth. If it fell 10% (in real, not nominal terms) it could bring GDP growth down to 5.3%.

At the time I first saw this dynamic in the data, when the Q1 numbers came out, I figured it would take several months to begin playing out. But the April numbers suggest it is already happening.

Chovanec notes if real estate investment drops by 10%, GDP will come in at 5.3%. What if real estate investment falls by 20% or 25%? Moreover, why shouldn?t it?

Nails in the Hard Landing Coffin?

One of the sillier stories making the rounds earlier last month was China currency move nails hard landing risk coffin

I responded at the time with ?

The longer China puts off rebalancing its economy, the bigger the crash later on. Moreover,
widening the band on its currency is a needed part of that rebalancing, and does not preclude in any way a huge slowdown in growth.

The structural imbalances in China are large and for now, still growing. However, huge cracks have appeared in real estate, and changes are
coming up with a regime change. Finally, peak oil alone makes many of the growth estimates we have seen for China outright impossible.

The real estate crash has arrived. The GDP crash will follow. For details, please see 12 Predictions by Michael Pettis on China; Non-Food Commodity Prices Will Collapse Over Next Three to Four Years; Nails in the Hard Landing Coffin?

In-house competition could make the Lions? secondary better in 2012.

Falcons G.M. Thomas Dimitroff honored National Bike to Work Day, riding 40 miles from his home to the office.? (Coincidentally, I did the same thing, walking down to my garage, climbing onto my bike, fastening the helmet to my head, removing the helmet from my head, climbing off my bike, walking back up to my office, and sitting down at my desk.)

The contract given by the Bucs to Conor Barth proves once again that kids should quit running with a football and start kicking it.

Saints WR Adrian Arrington says the bounty scandal is a non-issue during offseason workouts; ?In our facility, it doesn?t really get talked about,? Arrington said.? ?It hasn?t really affected any of us at all.?

QB Kevin Olsen, the younger brother of Panthers TE Greg Olsen, plans to follow in Greg?s footsteps at the University of Miami.? (Hopefully without the rapping.)

49ers RB Brandon Jacobs and WR Mario Manningham opted not to personally collect their new Super Bowls rings in lieu of chasing their next one.

The Glendale City Council is scrambling to avoid a $67 million lawsuit from the Cardinals over a parking dispute at the team?s stadium.

Will Writing ? Various Forms of Will and Some ... - Legal College ...

living will

Living will

When we believe of a Will we picture a typewritten document ready by a lawyer, signed by the testator and witnessed, but you will discover other much less widespread varieties of Will which are equally valid and binding. A Holographic Will, for example, is actually a Will entirely handwritten and signed by the testator, generally with out witnesses. The reality that it does not constantly need witnesses and is accepted in some jurisdictions is mainly because the signature of the testator is within the similar handwriting as the body of the document and is as a result accepted as evidence that the testator basically developed it.

Yet another kind of Will is really a Nuncupative Will or verbal Will that have to have two witnesses. Such a Will is regarded as to be a ?deathbed? Will simply because the testator does not have time to draft a written Will. Holographic Wills and Nuncupative Wills are recognised in quite a few jurisdictions, especially for servicemen on active service, and in England such a Will is referred to as a Serviceman?s Will.

In a

number of jurisdictions, notably France plus the state of Louisiana inside the US, a Mystic Will is actually a legally binding Last Will and Testament. This rarely-used documen tis completed, signed, and sealed in secret, then delivered to a notary public together with a signed statement that the document can be a valid Will. In front of witnesses, the notary then records on the envelope the circumstances of the transaction and also the content remains secret until it really is opened on the death of the testator.

Whilst most Wills, whatever the sort, are created so as to make certain family members members are effectively supplied for immediately after the testator?s death, many people have employed them to create unusual bequests. As William Hazlitt, the English literary critic and essayist, stated: ?Few issues show the human character in a a lot more ridiculous light than the circumstances of Will-making. It can be the newest chance we have of exercising the natural perversity of the disposition.? Here are some examples:Shakespeare?s last wish was that his

wife, Anne Hathaway, get his ?second ideal bed?.

Benjamin Franklin left directions in his Will that his daughter not engage in ?the costly, vain and useless pastime of wearing jewels? to avoid her from removing the 408 diamonds studding the frame of a portrait of King Louis XVI, given to Franklin when he was ambassador to France.

The Will of Napoleon Bonaparte instructed his son ?never to forget that he was born a French prince, and in no way to permit himself to turn into an instrument inside the hands of the triumvirs who oppress the nations of Europe.?

Virgil, the classical Roman poet most renowned for his epic function The Aeneid left directions in his Will to burn The Aeneid immediately after his death since it was unfinished. The request was later removed from his Will following his pals discovered out.

And 1 Anthony Scott, wrote in his Will: ?To my initially wife Sue, whom I generally promised to mention in my Will. Hello Sue!?

Tips On Taking Paid Online Surveys

Paid online surveys business has been around for a long time and many people have tried and failed to make money with it. Although many people have pursued this discipline unsuccessfully, that does not necessarily mean that money cannot be made with it. In fact, there are plenty of people who make quite a bit of money with paid surveys. Here are a few tips to help maximize the amount of money that can be made through surveys.

Get Form Software

When it comes to completing online surveys, a lot of forms will have to be filled out. Typically, the marketing companies that offer these survey opportunities require people to provide personal information like their name, address, age, income level and other things. When it comes to making money with paid surveys, speed is everything. If the survey participants cannot get through the forms and survey quickly, they will not be able to make much money. By using some kind of form completion software, a participant can get things done a lot quicker. Using this type of software makes it possible to have the answers to common questions filled in automatically. It can also help keep track of login information and passwords for all the various survey sites that are used.

Don?t Waste Time on Bad Opportunities

There are literally hundreds of different sites online that offer compensation in exchange for taking a survey. Some of them offer much better rewards than others. As a general rule, it is usually a good idea to narrow down the list of companies to work with. Find the companies that offer the best rewards and stick with them. Some companies make users jump through multiple hoops before they can collect on their rewards. They may only offer points that can be redeemed on merchandise instead of offering access to cash. If the merchandise is attractive, there is nothing necessarily wrong with this approach. However, some marketing companies offer merchandise that nobody really wants.

Keep Records

When a company wants someone to participate in a survey, they will send out an email invitation. In most cases, it is in the best interests of the participant to hang onto this email invitation for record-keeping purposes. This way, if the survey company doesn?t pay up on the amount that is owed, the participant can prove that he participated in the survey. This will help make sure that the surveys pay as much as they should.

Check Email Often

In order to maximize the number of chances to take surveys, participants need to check their email frequently. If a person wants to participate in a survey, he has to sign up through an email invitation that is sent out from the survey company. If the participant does not respond to the invitation fast enough, he can miss out on the opportunity to get involved. Typically, the survey company will only take up to a certain number of participants before the survey is closed to others. This means that the individual needs to check his email account regularly in order to maximize survey opportunities. It is also a good idea to set up a dedicated email account for paid survey taking purposes. This way, participants can easily scan through the available offers instead of having to sift through other emails as well.

Lenovo shows off ThinkStation E31 workstation in two different sizes

Image

Don't let that headline fool you: although Lenovo technically just unveiled one product, the ThinkStation E31 workstation, it actually shoehorned two distinct machines into one press release. Behold: a budget workstation available as a conventionally sized tower, as well as compact one. Whichever you choose, both support up to 32GB of RAM and are available with either an Intel Xeon E3-1200 CPU or a range of Ivy Bridge processors. Regardless of the size, you'll get nine USB ports, including four of the 3.0 variety. And, in addition to Windows 7 / XP, they're Windows 8-ready, and can run Red Hat as well.

It's at this juncture, though, that the specs start to diverge, with the heftier machine naturally offering more expandability. The full-size tower, for instance, can accommodate up to three HDDs, or 9TB of hard drive storage, while the smaller number makes room for two HDDs, or 6TB of space. (Either way, you can opt for solid-state drives.) On the graphics front, both will be offered with Intel's HD P4000 solution, but the upgrade options once again differ: expect a max offering of NVIDIA Quadro Q4000 graphics on the tower, and Quadro Q600 on the smaller guy. Intrigued? Both systems will start at $629, with the fuller-sized tower arriving on June 5th and the compact model following on June 13th.

Virurl Raises $1.2M To Reward Users For Spreading Viral Content

virurl logoVirurl, a startup that helps advertisers promote their content virally, is launching its public beta test today. It's also announcing that it has raised $1.2 million in seed funding. Here's how the Virurl model works: Advertisers upload the content that they want to promote, then set a campaign budget and a cost-per-click rate that they're willing to pay. Then users can browse the content and share it with their friends via social networks or email. For each click that they generate, users earn points that can be redeemed for rewards or cash. (Any proceeds from Facebook clicks are donated to a charity of the user's choice.)

Lindsay Lohan and Vikram Chatwal: New Couple Alert!

Lindsay Lohan was spotted leaving her friend’s hotel in N.Y. City and going on shopping excursion Wednesday with Vikram Chatwal.

It's the second time she's been romantically linked to the hotelier.

Last fall, the two were rumored to be dating, with Lohan getting into a heated argument with Chatwal's wife (they're separated) no less.

Romance or not, here's a photo of them yesterday ...

Lindsay Lohan and Vikram Chatwal

The 39-year-old multimillionaire has been spotted at with LiLo at his N.Y. City apartment partying ... without any alcohol, of course, LiLo swears.

Last year, her rep said, "Lindsay and Vikram are very good friends and nothing more than that. There's no romance between the two of them."

Expect a similar denial amid the rekindled rumors any minute now.
